RoHS is a mandatory standard formulated by EU legislation. Its full name is the 《Restriction of hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment》. This standard has been formally implemented since July 1, 2006. It is mainly used to regulate the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, making it more conducive to human health and environmental protection. The purpose of this standard is to eliminate lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (Note: the correct Chinese name of PBDE refers to polybrominated diphenyl ethers, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers are wrong statements) in electrical and electronic products, and the content of cadmium shall not exceed 0.01%.

However, what are the types of such detectors? Let’s take a look at the following introduction.
First, portable fluorescence spectrometer. This kind of RoHS detector uses isotope source as excitation source. It is small in size and easy to carry. It is suitable for field analysis or field and large-scale The main disadvantage is that the analysis accuracy of large-scale fluorescence spectra cannot be achieved. At present, the portable fluorescence spectrometer can simultaneously analyze 24 elements including gold (AU).

Second, handheld X-ray fluorescence spectrometer: this kind of RoHS test equipment is easy to carry and suitable for the analysis of high content of elements due to its integrated structure and low power. The disadvantage is that the accuracy is poor, and generally only semi quantitative analysis of elements is carried out.

Third, desktop X-ray fluorescence spectrometer: the main feature is to use Si (LI) or Si PIN detector technology. According to the refrigeration method, it can be divided into liquid nitrogen refrigeration and electric refrigeration. The instrument has high stability, high sensitivity, accuracy and reproducibility, and can analyze various elements of na-u at the same time. The concentration of analysis ranges from 100% – ppm.

Fourth, micro area x-ray fluorescence spectrometer. In addition to the above-mentioned energy spectrometers, there are also fluorescence energy spectrometers with special performance. The above-mentioned fluorescence spectrometers are all engaged in the analysis of the average composition of materials, and have great limitations in the analysis of inclusions, uneven materials or small particles in materials. At present, there is a very mature energy spectrum technology, which is called micro area x-ray fluorescence spectrometer. It can not only complete the analysis of the average composition of the general energy spectrometer, but also has a variable fine X-ray beam, which can selectively analyze the micro area. It can analyze the composition of small areas of the sample by moving the sample table precisely, and give the surface distribution map of elements in real time. It is similar to scanning electron microscopy or electron probe microanalysis, but it is much more sensitive than the latter. It is especially applicable to the identification and analysis of various non-uniform materials and inclusions. Generally, the micro area can be arbitrarily selected by the user at 30 microns, 100 microns, 200 microns, 500 microns to 1000 microns (1 mm).
