The LED Drive Power Supply

The LED power supply is a power converter that converts the power supply into a specific voltage and current to drive the LED light, because no power supply can directly supply the LED light. Therefore, in order to use LED as lighting source, the problem of power supply transformation should be solved first.
LED is actually a low-voltage unidirectional conductive device driven by current. LED drive power supply should have dc control, high efficiency, PWM dimming, over voltage protection, load disconnection, small size, and easy to use and other characteristics. Therefore, the following points should be paid attention to when designing the drive power supply of LED power supply:

(1) because the LED is a one-way conductive device, so to use dc current or one-way pulse current to supply power to the LED.
(2) because LED is a semiconductor device with PN junction structure, with a potential emf.
The current and voltage characteristics of LED are nonlinear.
(4) because the PN junction of the LED has a negative temperature coefficient, the temperature rise when the LED barrier emf will reduce.

The ratio of the current flowing through the LED to the light flux of the LED is also nonlinear.
In addition, GB/T 24825 and ICE62384:2006 also have the following provisions for LED drive power supply:
For the control device with unstable output voltage, the deviation between the output voltage and the rated voltage of LED module should not exceed 10% at the rated power supply voltage; For the control device with stable output voltage, when the power supply voltage is between 92% and 106% of the rated power supply voltage, the deviation between the output voltage and the rated LED module voltage shall not exceed 10%.
For the control device with unstable output current, the deviation between the output current and the rated current of the LED module should not exceed 10% at the rated power supply voltage; For the control device with stable output current, when the power supply voltage is between 92% and 106% of the rated power supply voltage, the deviation between the output voltage and the rated LED module voltage shall not exceed 10%.
Multi – value load control devices should be tested under minimum and maximum loads.
If the LED module or any other control unit connected to the converter contains capacitors used to control and/or drive the circuit of the module, current pulses may be generated when the LED module is connected to the Confucius device, which does not affect the over-current protection of the control device nor the start-up process of the control device.
Eligibility: the test device should not trip when connected to the measuring circuit of the control device.
At rated voltage, the total power of the line should not exceed 110% of the manufacturer’s claimed value when the control device works with the LED module.
When the control unit is working with the rated LED module and the whole combination is operating at rated voltage and frequency, the difference between the measured line power factor and its marking value shall not exceed 0.05.
When the control device and the rated LED module operate at rated voltage, the difference between the supply current and the current identified on the control device or declared by the manufacturer’s product sample shall not exceed 10%.
