The Application of LED in the Illuminating Engineering

Abstract

The rapid development and application of LED solid-state light source in the lighting field is changing the pattern of light source and lighting lamps，and is also innovating a new way of lighting. It is considered as a revolutionary transformation in the lighting field. With the rapid development of LED，there is a new recognition about its role in the lighting field. This article discusses the application of LED，so as to discuss the role of LED in the lighting field，and to promote the development of LED in the lighting field in a healthy and orderly way.

Preface

Since the appearance of the world energy crisis in the 70s, countries around the world are taking corresponding countermeasures, and actively developing new energy, left no stone unturned in existing energy saving. Energy saving and low carbon has become a hot spot and the significant problems commonly concerned by the international community today. In order to save the electric power, protect the environment, improve the illuminating quality and implement the green lighting, and push forward the development of LED lighting industry, Chinese government has taken a series of measurement, for example, the six ministries including the MOST( ministry of the science and technology) have founded a national semiconductor lighting project coordination leadership team who in October of 2003, emergently started the public project” semiconductor lighting engineering”, 863 plan and LED project, and so on. These measures has powerfully pushed forward the development of Chinese LED lighting industry and the lighting energy saving. In 2003,China started the semiconductor engineering, and input 1.400 million from the year of 2003 to the year of 2005; 863 project of the year of 2010 has been input 3.500 million, MOST planned the semiconductor lighting pilot project of “Ten City and All Lamps”. By the end of 2009,China has the total LED manufacturing enterprises for more than 3500, among them, the extension and chip producers of the upstream are up to 2400, the rapid development has become the focus of the attention of the industry. It is normal that different voices appear to show the care and love for LED industry, which is also the natural law of the development of any new objects

Lighting energy saving is the energy saving system consisted of three main aspects: firstly,  design the reasonable lighting arrangement, choose the efficient light source and efficient lamps, and adopt the flexible control system; secondly, produce the product, improve the light efficiency of the light source, improve the flexibility and reliability of the control system; thirdly, implement the scientific and human based management; these are three indispensable. As the new light source with the fastest growing efficacy, LED light source is newest solid-state lighting source( SSL) after the filament lamp and the gas discharge lamp, is called the third generation lighting source. Because of many advantages such as small size, high efficiency, various colors, small LED thermal radiation, easy production of the various lamp figure, convenient control and so on, it has been widely applied in the current lighting engineering, especially in the outdoor landscape lighting, it has played the key role that other light source can not replace.
