What is the BFE (bacterial filtration efficiency)?
BFE (bacterial filtration efficiency) refers to the barrier effect of the mask material on the bacteria produced by the wearer. It is mainly used for medical surgical masks [1] and disposable medical masks [2]. Such products may be marked with BFE on the package.

What is the PFE (particulate filter efficiency) indicator?
Those respirators used to filter suspended particles in the air (such as bacteria, viruses, dust, welding smoke, etc.) and reduce people’s inhalation of these pathogenic or harmful particles from the respiratory tract have particle filtration efficiency indicators, such as the anti particle respirator conforming to the Chinese standard gb2626 [4]. When using the mask filter efficiency test instrument, first make preparations before startup:
1. Check the connection between the air source of the air compressor and the test hose.
2. Turn on the test power. Turn on the main power switch of the tester, press the “heating” button, the heating temperature is 120 ℃, and the “fan” button. Adjust the pressure regulating valve of the pneumatic clamp of the tester to 0.3MPa ~ 0.4MPa, maintain the air makeup flow of the air makeup regulating valve at 50-70l / min, and preheat the whole machine for 5 minutes.
3. Add test aerosol solution (2% NaCl or dehs, DOP / Pao, paraffin oil aerosol solution) to the aerosol generator. The hose connection is correct. When changing different aerosol solutions, close the valve of the air compressor and ensure that the “spray” button switch is in the closed state, so as to prevent the solution in the aerosol generator from overflowing and corroding the panel of the tester.

The detailed operation process of the mask filtration efficiency test instrument is as follows:
