Measurement and Evaluation of the Safety of UV Light Sources|Part5: UV Lamp for Health Protection

UV lamp for health protection is used in speckle reducing and hairdressing and so on. We put the UV lamp for health protection in the UV radiation box to test the UV spectral irradiance distribution.

Test condition: the distance from the light receiving head to the light source center is 1m. The tube current is 0.0823A, the tube voltage is 219.8V, and the power is 18.1W.
Test result: spectral radiation distribution is as shown in figure 5
Illuminance: 6.25 lx;
Radiation intensity of illuminance: 11.4uW/cm2
Photochemical harm effective radiation intensity of illumination of skin and eyes: 0.5309uW/cm2
Near UV harm effective radiation intensity of illumination of eyes: 6.5284uW/cm2
250~320nm B band effective radiation intensity of illumination (E1):1.0682172uW/cm2320~400nm A band effective radiation intensity of illumination (E2):0.005564uW/cm2

Similarly, we can draw up the safety evaluation curve based on the above formula, as shown in figure 6:

a) In order to avoid the harm of the two kinds of UV light under the UV lamp for health protection, the lamp should work in the public areas below the two curves.

b) Example: when human body irradiation time is 1000s, the light illumination of the human body illuminating area should be controlled less than 35.317lx. If we use the lamp under the illuminance of 10lx, the time for people receiving the illumination is less than 353.2s.

c) We can get the following conclusion according to the requirement of using UV instruments by IEC standard:
