Luminous flux, the symbol is Φ. The standard unit is lumen (LM), which is a physical quantity indicating the light power and an indicator indicating the overall brightness of the light source. It refers to the light energy emitted by the light source or absorbed by the object per unit time, which can be calculated by integrating the luminous intensity (IV) with the solid angle. Luminous flux reflects the power felt by human eyes.
After purchasing any lighting tester, we must first master its correct use method to ensure that we can operate smoothly in the future. For example, the scope of application of the luminous flux tester is relatively wide, and it is necessary to master its use method. Next, let’s take a look at the correct use of luminous flux testing equipment.
First, hardware operation. When using the luminous flux tester, it is necessary to pay attention to the startup sequence to protect the equipment from being affected. The start-up sequence of luminous flux test equipment is generally to turn on the xenon lamp first, then the instrument host, and finally the computer connected with the instrument. The reason for this operation is that the steady-state xenon lamp is high-voltage lighting. In order to avoid the impact of the instantaneous pulse current on the surrounding equipment, it is necessary to turn on the xenon lamp first, and then turn on the surrounding computer and other equipment after the current is stable. The shutdown sequence is reversed.
Second, software operation. The working curve method is often used for luminous flux tester, that is, a series of standard solutions are prepared after the known amount of standard materials are treated in the same way as the sample, and the relative fluorescence intensity of the standard solution and the blank solution are measured; After deducting the blank value, draw the working curve with the fluorescence intensity as the ordinate and the concentration of the standard solution as the abscissa; Then, prepare the treated sample into a solution with a certain concentration, measure its relative fluorescence intensity under the same conditions, deduct the blank value, and calculate the content of fluorescent substance from the working curve.
Third, in the process of using the luminous flux tester, when using the fluorescence analysis method to determine some trace substances that may cause fluorescence changes, the differential fluorescence method is often used, which can widen the reading gap of the fluorescence intensity and increase the reduction of the fluorescence intensity, thus improving the sensitivity and accuracy of the method.
Fourth, the fluorescence intensity is easily affected by external factors, such as sample cell, excitation light source, temperature, pH value of solution, solvent property, other solutes, surfactants, etc., which will cause changes in fluorescence intensity. Strictly controlling the test conditions is very important for fluorescence analysis. For example, the sample should be stored in a quartz cuvette (fluorescent cell) with light transmission on all sides. For volatile samples, a fluorescent cell with a plug should be used.
It is not difficult to master the correct use of the luminous flux tester. The key is how to buy a test instrument with superior quality and good reputation.
