How to do led power driver testing?

The LED power driver’s input and output conditions may be tested consistently and correctly using this test method. LED power driver may be tested to its fullest extent using pre-programmed routines that include a wide range of tests and measurements. It is one of the best LED test instruments.
It is becoming more common for LED lighting to replace incandescent and fluorescent lights, resulting in enormous energy savings. A continuous DC current is needed to drive LED strings since they run on DC current, and this is provided by an AC/DC power supply, also known as an LED driver.

How to do LED driver testing
Here, you will learn how to do LED power driver testing.

Safety first
Make sure you have access to a safe lift or ladder. The use of a safety harness and clips is recommended for installations at height. Determining what the breaker voltage is at the breaker is simple. In the future, you’ll need to know this to take the tests. Before moving on, be sure you’re safe.

Identify where the driver’s compartment is located and the electrical system
The driver’s compartment may be found on the mounting bracket. It is possible that certain fixtures employ a driver on board or have a sealed driver (DOB). It’s time to get rid of these fixtures since they’re inoperable and need to be replaced. We prefer to choose fixtures that can be repaired rather than ones that need to be replaced.
After finding the container, you’ll need to identify the cables for both input and output. Additional wires are required for 0-10v dimming, which is found in many fixtures. To complete the test, it is necessary to double-check that none of these are in contact with one another. This could be because of a dimmer that was put in or because the wires touched each other.

Examine the input side
Depending on the structure, the driver’s input voltage might range from 100 volts to 480 volts. Step 1 will tell you the voltage, so you can adjust your meter appropriately. Wire nuts are an alternative to quick clips, which are often used in light fixtures.
You should be able to determine the power output using any of these methods. It’s best to photograph the meter’s input side. Without electricity, we can’t do any tests on the driver. Fix the problem first, then go on to the next. Before we can move on to the next step, we need a meter reading that matches the building’s voltage.

Examine the output side
Constant current or DC electricity is required for LEDs. The driver’s DC output varies depending on the fixture, so you’ll want to check there. Most of the time, it’s between 24 and 54 volts. Insert the multimeter probes into your meter and switch to DC mode.
Just two wires are needed for DC out since there is no ground. For the test, make sure all cables, including the dimming wires, are completely disconnected. Check the DC Out to verify whether it fits your driver’s specifications.

Conclusion
In most cases, drivers will fail at 0, resulting in a 0 on the output side. The LEDs would have been dim or flickering if the driver was only putting out a small amount of current to the fixture. Our lack of power informs us that the driver is incompetent. There is an issue with the LED board if the power supply is okay and the output is good.
