In our country, semiconductor light emitting diode testing methods have no corresponding national standards, so there is always great controversy between different manufactures and users. In recent years, the Chinese Optical Society Professional club has organized a number of academic discussion and communication about semiconductor light emitting diode test methods, the industry has formed a unified understanding, and formulates the unified industry standards SJ/T2355-2005”Semiconductor Light Emitting Diode Test Methods”, it pays an important role in the products communication and comparison, the standard not only adopts CIE127-1997”Measurement of LEDs” methods, but also adds the measurement methods of color characteristic, junction temperature and other parameters combined with the requirements of lighting power white LED development, it provides an important basis for the development of LED lighting products.
In recent years, the development of multi-chip or multi-combined type LED lamp is very rapid, and there is no special testing standards for LED lamps(lamp test). But as a kind of lighting application product, the International Electrotechnical Commission IEC and the International Commission on Illumination CIE has already have relevant testing standards. The centre intensity and beam angle of lighting LED can be implemented according to IEC61341-1994 Standard.
As people’s attention to optical biological safety, according to the International Electrotechnical Commission IEC60825 standard, the radiation safety test of LED lamps or lamp products must be in accordance with the requirements that is similar to the laser device. The domestic enterprises do not attach enough importance in general. More and more LED products into the United States and European and other international markets, it will involve more complex radiation safety testing problems. For the current fast development broad beam LED products, the above-mentioned IEC standards may be too harsh. For general lighting lamps and lamp systems, considering that it may produce damage to the human skin and eyes, the IEC adopted the International Commission on Illumination file CIE S009/E2002”Optical Biological Safety of Lamps and Lamp Systems” in 2002, as a formal standard of IEC. In order to cope with the international changes, China has formulated the corresponding standards in 2004.
