Measurement and Evaluation of the Safety of UV Light Sources|Part2: Safety Requirements of UV Light Source

Skin and eye photochemical ultraviolet harm aeration limit

The irradiation time is within 8 hours (the situation of over 8 hours is not considered), the aeration limit of the effective up radiation incident to the eyes and the skin without the protection is 30J•m-2. In order to protect the eyes or the skin from the damage of the ultraviolet radiation produced by the wide spectrum light source, the effective integral spectral irradiance Es of the light source is no more than the limit of the following formula.

The aeration limit of the eye’s near ultraviolet damage

The total exposure radiation of the light radiation to the eyes when the spectrum region is between 315nm and 400nm(UV-A), it will be no more than 10000 J•m-2 when the time is less than 1000s; The UV-A Band irradiance of the eyes without the protection should be no more than 10W•m-2 when the time is more than 1000s.

(1)、(2) formula: Eλ(λ,t): spectral irradiance, the unit is W•m-2•nm-1; SUV (λ): photochemical uv damage weighting functions( as shown in figure 1); Δλ: wavelength bandwidth,the unit is nm;t: irradiation time, the unit is time.
