Fiber Optic Spectrometer: Design of Optical Platform

By Jacky on July 12, 2012

Signal light gets to the optical platform through a standard optical interface. Firstly it will be collimated by a spherical mirror, the collimating optical will be dispersed by a plane grating, then be focused via a second spherical mirror, finally, spectral image is cast onto a one-dimensional linear detector array.

The optical platform consists of many components, so the user can select the most suitable configuration according to their own applications. The selection of these comments affects the parameters of spectrophotometer greatly, such as diffraction grating, entrance slit, the eliminating second-order diffraction effects filters, and detector coating. As to the sensitivity, resolution, bandwidth, and stray light of spectrometer, the introduction will be made in the later chapters.
