Detector – CCD Detector

There is charge stored in the charge-coupled device CCD detector, and the charge will be released when the photon irradiates to the photosensitive surface. At the end of integration time, the remaining charge will be transferred to the buffer. Then the signal is transferred to the A/D conversion card. Due to the natural integral attribute of CCD detectors, it has a very large dynamic range; it is only limited by the dark (thermal) current and the data processing speed of AD conversion card. The CCD with 3648 pixels has the function of integrated electronic shutter; therefore, the time of integration can be 1 millisecond.

The advantages of CCD detectors are: a lot of pixel (2048 or 3648), high sensitivity, and fast response.

The main disadvantage is the low signal noise ratio

The UV-enhanced window-chip.

As for the spectrometer which needs 2048/364 pixels and its application of wavelength less than 350nm, a special UV-enhanced window-chip is needed. The CCD detector without window-chip has a very low response to the optical response whose wavelength is less than 350 nm, and UV4 UV-window-chip enhances the response to CCD detector in the wavelength range of 200-340nm.
